Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Sallandse Heuvelrug

The location is lovely for a walk, with good scenery and nature, and the hotel itself looks okay. But the service made the stay feel much worse. We were there for a family celebration and stayed one night. At dinner, three of us were told impolitely that the large bar staff member couldn't take our order because he was serving another group of 20. He then seemed uninterested in helping us find the drinks menu, and handed it over with a dismissive attitude. He put the dishes and plates on the table rudely, and one family member noticed his bad odor. When we asked for a steak to be cooked more, he got defensive instead of taking it back to the kitchen. Reception was disappointing too: we had to look for the receptionist in the back area, where she was sitting and didn't approach us. The staff need to show more interest and courtesy. Please review the staff. We weren't especially difficult guests for a 4* hotel like fletcher, and better service is critically needed. The set menu dinner wasn't great either. The hot appetizers arrived cold, and the medium rare steak we asked for came medium well. We ordered tenderloin on skewers medium rare, but asked for one portion to be cooked more. The desserts were very standard. Food used to have good reviews, but our meal didn't live up to that. The room looked old. It was meant to be a double bed, but instead there were two single beds prepared separately.

The staff were friendly, the room was nice and the atmosphere was great. The hotel is in a remote spot, but still close enough to the city to notice the difference. I had a wonderful stay, and both dinner and breakfast were wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend the place.

We really enjoyed the indoor pool, and the mattresses were very comfortable. Our room looked out over the forest and trees, surrounded by beautiful nature. It was a very pleasant stay, and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves nature and wants a quiet, luxurious break.

The location was excellent, but that was the only good part. The room was terrible, and the staff were unhelpful, unfriendly and impolite, especially at reception and in the restaurant. First visit, last visit. Never again.
