Richard gave us a very pleasant welcome and quickly explained how everything worked. He also prepared breakfast in a cozy room, with more than enough choice and good quality. The hotel sits nicely between the Outlet Center and the city center, near Roermond’s center. Its old architecture means the rooms have high ceilings and plenty of space. Our triple room had a table and four comfortable armchairs, and there were comfortable beds. We also had a kettle, tea, and Amaretto coffee. The bathroom had plenty of towels and fragrant tubs of shower gel and soap. There’s ample free parking and good free Wi-Fi. The nearby Japanese restaurant Izumi is worth recommending too. We’ll definitely be back.

The self-service check-in was easy and pleasant, and hotel manager Richard made us feel very welcome. Our room was simple but spacious, and breakfast was excellent. There’s ample parking behind the hotel, which is within walking distance of both the outlet mall and the city center.

The location was excellent, close to the old town, which is lovely and especially cozy. I slept very well, though the shower could use some improvement. I got friendly help over the phone, but if you’re not expecting it, arriving without speaking to anyone feels strange. Breakfast was a bit expensive, and I left early so didn’t get to enjoy it. There isn’t a bar or anything like one in the hotel, so you have to find one outside.

The room was so dirty that it looked as if it had been snowing inside. The curtains were filthy too, and I didn’t want to touch them. We paid 155 euros and expected a clean room and some quality, or at least a decent cleaning. Breakfast was awful. We couldn’t even manage a croissant; McDonald’s breakfast is more upscale. The gentleman we spoke to seemed not to care. He asked perfunctorily how things were, but didn’t take the time to listen seriously or come and see the room. When we made our disappointment clear, all he could say was, “Yes, it’s always those Belgians who have something to complain about.” I’ve lived in the Netherlands for almost 20 years, and we were there in a car with Belgian license plates. We’re quite easily satisfied, but this wasn’t acceptable. He really can’t take criticism, as far as I can tell. It’s pretty pathetic. Don’t be fooled by the website photos, the place looked completely different from what we found. We took our own photos to show it. We slept reasonably well and had a good time in Roermond, but the location wasn’t good enough, and otherwise I have nothing positive to say. The one small plus is that you can park next to the building. I’d gladly have paid for parking if everything else had been good.
