The Rosendale

The reception shop has a nice range of coffee, drinks and snacks, and the hotel is handy for the city center, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Street noise was acceptable, too, since it's right across from the train station. The room was okay, but it could use a walkthrough. A few lamps didn't work, and the bathroom tap needs descaling. There's no restaurant, though breakfast is available. For the price, it was only so-so, and the buffet could use more choice. They had bacon, but only boiled eggs. Still, it's a good place to stay.

The room was clean, and the breakfast was excellent. Getting to the theatre, cinema, bars and places to eat took about 5-10 minutes on foot, with the train station just across the street. There seemed to be a staffing issue at the moment, though the staff who were there were friendly. A bathrobe would have been nice for the price of my particular room. One practical note: the safe won't take a 15.6" laptop, but it fits a 13.3" one and would likely fit a 14".

The staff were super friendly, and the WiFi was fast. Breakfast is modest, but you'll find what you need if you're not after anything fancy. The bathroom feels a little dated, though it's fine for the basics. Rooms are okay, with a very comfy bed and pillows. I really liked the cozy look of the lobby and bar.

The breakfast needs more food, especially since I paid for it. Still, I ended up staying more than a week thanks to Fabienre at reception. Your smile and help meant a lot to me, and your hospitality really made a difference. It's a really good hotel, with a perfect bar and lobby. I spent the whole day sitting by the window, and it was very peaceful. Big thank you, Fabienre.
