Alphabet Apartments Westersingel

We loved Rotterdam, but I wouldn't rent from Alphabet again. The place was expensive, presumably because it was central, and had a long list of problems. Outside, the streets were loud, and the poor insulation made it hard to sleep. Inside, the apartment had no real insulation and the AC was poor. On a mildly warm day, the stairs felt like an oven, and the elevator was very slow and felt sketchy. The bathroom had no proper ventilation, so even a short shower made it humid like a sauna. There was visible water damage on the floor outside the shower and bathroom, and the electrical socket in the shower had no cover, which felt dangerous in a damp room. The toilet room had no hand-cleaning supplies, so we had to go into another room to wash our hands. We also found a bedroom door already damaged, a sofa with a broken armrest, and a door that sometimes wouldn't lock properly, so we double-checked it each time. The downstairs neighbors had a party even though parties weren't allowed. On arrival, there was a mark on the counter and almost every plate was dirty. We took photos right away, but they still insisted on keeping the deposit. We had to run the dishes as soon as we got there, even though there were only a few dishwasher tablets.
