A lovely surprise on Schiermonnikoog. The atmosphere is warm, the service is very pleasant, and the courses are nice.

The wine pairings were good, and the combinations in the seven-course dinner kept surprising me. I had a fantastic evening, and if fine dining is your thing, I’d definitely recommend it.

The staff are friendly, and there are quite a few flavours to choose from. At first glance the selection seems extensive, but many options turn out to be duplicates, and I missed the more modern flavours you find elsewhere. There were ice crystals in the ice cream, so it seemed as though it had been frozen and reused. It’s a pleasant spot for a quick ice cream, though there are better places, just not nearby.

Service was good, and the three-course surprise menu tasted nice. I’d heard the food was impressive, though, and this wasn’t something I expect to remember for long. My dessert was missing some fruit compared with the others, and it seemed unfinished. Our group was larger, but that shouldn’t happen at a restaurant of this class.
