Hotel Schinvelder Hoeve

The food was outstanding and well priced, and the staff were accommodating and seemed to care about making our stay work. It’s a quaint property with a homey feel, and the room has a castle-like look, a huge bathtub, and a large bathroom. The terrace is pleasant for a drink in good weather, and the hotel is easy to spot by the road. A gas station and grocery store are a short walk away. The rooms need maintenance, though. Ours felt very dated, with stained carpet, damaged walls, and peeling wallpaper. The heavy curtains and chandeliers look hard to keep clean, and anyone with a dust allergy could struggle. You can hear the nearby road during the day and at night. The bed wasn’t comfortable, so getting a good night’s sleep was difficult. The windows are small and low, and the room stayed dim even on a sunny day. We enjoyed the stay, but better upkeep would have made it more comfortable. The food and helpful staff made it worthwhile, though I think we’d be badly sleep deprived if we’d stayed a couple more days.

There’s enough parking, and the venue can host large celebrations and events.

The room and “Hotel” are beautiful, and it seems like a lovely place for a vacation if you have time in the morning. But I wouldn’t describe it as a hotel, more like an AirBnB. We arrived at 8 p.m. to find no reception, just the room keys in an envelope, and the restaurant was closed. Breakfast was listed as a buffet in the reservation, but the note in the room said it would be brought there at 8:30 a.m. The earliest option was 8 a.m., also in the room, so I can’t comment on the breakfast itself. The Wi-Fi wasn’t really good enough for streaming. When we left at 7:40 a.m., reception still wasn’t open. Luckily, a staff member was able to open the door so we could return the keys. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend it as a hotel or for a business trip. For a vacation with a relaxed morning, though, it’s a very nice place and I’d recommend it.

The rooms are nice, the bathroom is spacious and wonderful, and breakfast is a nice buffet. Roadworks nearby are making access a little difficult right now, but the hotel is still secluded enough to feel quiet and peaceful. We’ll definitely come back.
