The owners are very friendly, and the apartments have everything you need, including comfortable beds, a nicely equipped bathroom, and a kitchen with a dishwasher. They're in a lovely spot in Drenthe, close to several forest areas where you can walk or cycle.

The biggest drawback was the poor soundproofing. TV noise wasn't an issue since you soon realize how much it carries into the bedrooms and turn it down. But the neighbors in the adjoining cottage were from Liège and seemed used to shouting, banging on tables, and slamming doors. It got unpleasant, even unbearable. That's the reason for four stars instead of five, though judging the whole place on that alone would be unfair to the owners, and I'd otherwise rate it much lower. I'd happily stay for a week or two because the cottage is comfortable and has plenty of storage, but I'd try to avoid having a neighbor. For parents, bring two nightlights if your child is afraid of the dark or not used to it. There are no nearby streetlights, and the bedrooms get truly dark. A flashlight is handy too, so you don't wake everyone. The cottage itself is excellent: modern, practical, and well furnished, ideal for two or three people. For four, it depends on whether you can manage the small double bed. The bedding is excellent, every window has a mosquito net, and there are plenty of power outlets. The owners clearly put a lot of care into the design. Wi-Fi is fine for browsing, but don't expect to stream. The TV takes USB drives and HDMI cables, and digital terrestrial TV reception is decent.
