Landal Domein De Schatberg

We had a great summer holiday here with all 14 of us, including four kids and a baby. The place is otherwise perfect for a summer break, but the rooms could be cleaner. The flies were a real nuisance, and the kids got bites all over.

The pool area was crowded and felt unhygienic. Many people didn't shower properly before swimming, probably because the bathing facilities weren't adequate, and that made the whole experience unpleasant instead of relaxing. The villa itself was in the middle of a busy campsite, with tents and people everywhere, so getting there was stressful and the setting didn't feel peaceful. We stayed at Landal Domein De Schatberg in July 2024 in a 14-person water villa. The house was spacious and fairly new, but already looked worn, with marks on the walls and other signs of use. More seriously, two people in our group were bitten, and two separate doctors later confirmed the bites were from bed bugs. We also found a dead bed bug beneath a mattress topper. When we told Landal, they denied there was a problem, saying their pest control expert found nothing and that the dead bug was probably an insect from the nearby forest. That response felt dismissive and unacceptable, especially after the doctors' confirmations. I wouldn't recommend Domein De Schatberg.

We stayed in a six-person bungalow at Landal de Schatberg and couldn't think of anything disappointing about the holiday. The staff were always friendly and helpful when we had questions. The bungalow was near the water, with plenty of room inside and outside, including large tables for bigger families. The rooms were tidy and comfortable, the sleeping rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was a jacuzzi. There was lots for little kids to do in the park, with indoor and outdoor playgrounds. In summer, the outdoor pool has a great waterslide. The indoor pool is small to medium sized, but just fine and also has a waterslide. Toverland and MindMystery theme parks are nearby.

We had one of the 10-person Landal houses for a weekend. It was a great house, with a nice swimming pool and lots of playgrounds for the kids. Toverland theme park is close by too.
