You have to love a family-owned hotel chain: the service was excellent, everything was impeccably clean, and breakfast was amazing. It's right by a busy highway, but the windows are good quality, so I slept like a baby.

The food was excellent, and the cook deserves more than five stars. Lovely decor and friendly people, too. The only bad part was the two girls cleaning between 8 and 9 while we were trying to sleep. They talked loudly to each other for half an hour. I know there's a lot to do, but we came to relax and sleep after working 70+ hours a week for two years. All three saunas were perfect, clean, and relaxing. The swimming pool could maybe be cleaned more often, but it was still okay. We'll definitely visit again!

I accidentally booked the wrong date through Booking.com, even though I meant to stay a month later. As a loyal Booking.com customer who has stayed at the Van der Valk Hotel in Venlo several times, I asked Booking.com for help. They responded quickly and contacted the hotel to ask about a refund, since the intended stay was still a month away. I'd also booked another stay for the two days after that. The reception staff member I spoke to was unhelpful, disrespectful, and unfriendly, which reflects badly on management and customer service. I'm deeply disappointed with the Van der Valk chain. My company regularly uses its hotels for business trips across the Netherlands, but after this experience I won't choose the chain again.

The sauna and pool were a nice, relaxing place to spend time. The hotel itself is nice, with clean, modern rooms, and I enjoyed the tasty breakfast.
