De Kastanjehof

Set in a lovely village among the woods, this is a charming little hotel. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. There’s also an excellent restaurant downstairs. A great spot for a quiet weekend.

The garden is lovely, and my friend and I were glad to have lunch outside on the weekend. Her steak looked great and came with fries, salad, and bearnaise. I had the shakshuka, which was nicely made, though the eggs were harder than I like. The light, crisp bread and mild, tasty hummus were good with it. The food and setting made for a very nice lunch, but service was only average for a place like this. We had to ask for another menu and a water glass when my friend arrived. I asked for an Americano, if they had one, and was later told they didn't. Maybe the waiter didn't know what that was, so I asked someone else for black coffee. Our table was also squeezed beside a shrub, and a waiter kept brushing against me as he passed through the narrow gap between my chair and the shrub. Each time, I turned around and saw it was him again. For me, the food gets 4.5, the ambience 5, and the service 3.

The staff were very nice, and after a comfortable night on our hiking weekend, we had a lovely breakfast that really set us up for the day.

Our small wedding lunch was organized at short notice, and the event manager made the planning so easy by communicating clearly throughout. Everything we’d agreed on was carried out just right, with great attention to detail. The staff were warm, attentive, and professional, and made both us and our guests feel special. The intimate, cozy setting was perfect for the celebration. It was everything we hoped for and more.
