Cove - Centrum, Passage

We spent four nights here, October 15-19, with our small dog. The spacious studio had all the amenities we needed for a short stay, including a decent kitchenette, good shower pressure and a bathtub. I just wish the toilet weren't separate from the bathroom, as that was a little inconvenient. The lobby was spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It did get uncomfortable there after a while because I found it too warm, even without my jacket. I'd stay here again when we come to Den Haag.

Our stay was really nice. The rooms were very clean and affordable, with good equipment, a little kitchenette and a comfortable couch. Staff were friendly and informative too. The location is excellent and central, right by a pedestrian shopping area and a beautiful-looking mall, with public transport only a few meters away.

The room looked beautiful, and I liked the cozy lobby and free coffee there. The staff were always extremely friendly when we spoke with them. But that didn't solve the problems during our weeklong stay, so I can't recommend the hotel right now. Housekeeping was poor: the room wasn't vacuumed once, the towels weren't changed and the trash was only taken out when I specifically asked. Supplies weren't replenished either. The conditioner was empty, and we ran out of toilet paper for the last two days. After having to chase the team about the heating and an extra blanket, I didn't feel like messaging again, so we used tissues. That shouldn't happen in a hotel. The heating stopped working after the first night and the room was extremely cold. I contacted the service team on WhatsApp. They were friendly and promised to help right away, but nothing happened by evening, so I had to ask again for the blanket. The heating never worked again during the week. On our departure day, there was no hot water for a shower either. The shower also dripped constantly. The kitchenette was poorly stocked, with only two of each piece of cutlery, which meant running the dishwasher more often than needed. Sets of four would make more sense.

I spend far too much time thinking about affordable housing. I used to have it, but I don't anymore. Cove Centrum was hard to beat for the price. The apartments were a good size, fully functional and remarkably quiet inside. I did take off a point for service because my bathtub hadn't been cleaned properly, so I never used it. Salt, pepper and oil are basic cooking supplies apartments should have. It's ridiculous to expect short-term guests to buy them themselves. The city centre felt much too crowded and chaotic to me, though it was convenient being near the train stop and everything else. Dutch and Asian groceries were across the street. Small apartments like these, and longer hotel stays, may be the future. Everyone should have a clean, safe place to sleep. I'd rather see money invested in that than in the many dystopian projects being built for enormous sums.
