Hotel Sunset Scheveningen

The room was okay apart from the heat, and the location near the beach was good. But the bad hospitality and hard-to-reach staff mean I won’t stay here again. The street-facing windows had no balcony, and the room got very warm in the sun with no air conditioning. The hotel was noisy too. I could hear every cough from the neighbors. Check-in and checkout were a disaster. I was expected to give an exact arrival time beforehand and confirm it again by text or app an hour before, which is hard to do while driving alone on the highway. Even after I called to confirm, I waited outside for half an hour. The woman responsible was sitting in the cafe next door and hadn’t seen me or read my message saying I was waiting. When I asked where I could get a good breakfast, she gave no useful answer and disappeared after a minute. Although she’d agreed, she never brought fresh towels after a few days. At checkout the key card suddenly stopped working, even though I still had an hour. Half my luggage was already in the car, but I couldn’t get to the rest in the room. I waited outside for two hours for her to come and clean. Calls and texts didn’t get through. The owner I contacted made it clear I’d have to sort it out myself. When the woman finally arrived, she said she’d been shopping without her phone. Neither she nor the owner apologized. I was left feeling like the guest is expected to make the landlord’s life easy, rather than the other way around.
