New City Hotel Scheveningen

Staff were warm, attentive, and helpful. At this budget-friendly price, some of the facility issues are understandable, and I think the team will improve them. There were times when people gathered in the passage, making noise and sometimes blocking the stairs. Waste left outside rooms also caused a noticeable smell there. Shared facilities occasionally raised hygiene concerns, and toiletries like body wash weren’t always replenished. Room access and checkout coordination had a few inconsistencies during my stay.

The reception staff were polite, answered all my questions, and helped a lot. It’s a calm, quiet place near the seashore, with public transport nearby. The beds were soft and comfy, though the stairs are very steep, as you might expect in the Netherlands. The place is fairly outdated, and the thin walls mean you may hear a dog bark or a child scream now and then. It wasn’t a big problem for us. The room and bathroom could have been cleaner, but there was hot water, lockable doors, body wash, and towels. I’d recommend it if you’ll spend most of your time exploring The Hague, as long as you don’t expect top-notch accommodation.

The shared bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all during my three-day stay, and there was no soap. The carpet and wallpaper were really old and dirty.

My flight was delayed, so I couldn’t get to the hotel. I contacted booking and emailed the hotel earlier that same day so there wouldn’t be a problem, but the hotel didn’t respond and keeps trying to take money from my bank account. The staff are completely disrespectful and treat guests like trash. Places like this should close.
