The basement bar was pretty nice, and everyone on staff was warm, friendly, and keen to make us feel at home. Marco, the Italian guy in the bar and breakfast room, really made an effort to welcome us, if I’m remembering his name right. My room, Willem II, was very nice. It’s an excellent hostel in the city centre, close to the railway station. I’d suggest adding a few more clothes hangers and some lockers or lockable drawers in the room. There are small lockers near reception.

The breakfast was delicious and good value, though there wasn’t much variety. That was probably more noticeable because we stayed longer than most people. Our family spent 14 fantastic days at hostel Roots in Tilburg, and being just a stone’s throw from the train station worked really well. We had a private room with a bathroom and breakfast included. The place was clean and so gezellig, cozy, and we couldn’t fault it. The staff went out of their way to make our stay good. We love Tilburg, where most of our family lives. Thanks again to team Roots. Regards Neil, Sam and Willy

When I arrived, Pixies were playing Where is my mind? over the speakers. What a welcome! 😃🤟😁 I was at Roots for the Roadburn festival 2026 and loved the place and the guys there. It’s clean, well maintained, and cosy. The railway station is just a two-minute walk away, and the Roadburn clubs and venues are only several minutes on foot. Most major places in Tilburg were easy to reach during the festival.

From the moment I arrived, I felt safe and completely at ease. Everything was clean and comfortable, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the hostel has a warm, welcoming feel. I’d happily stay again and highly recommend it!

The location is great, the staff are friendly and helpful, and breakfast is quite nice for 7 eur. The female only room wasn’t so appealing, though. There were stains on the carpet and walls, and the furniture was old. Neither the toilets nor the shower rooms had soap. You have to make your own bed, but at least the linens are clean.
