Eye Hotel

The hotel is in a great spot for restaurants, markets and other places to visit, and I’d consider staying again if I return to Utrecht. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, with a quirky layout that has separate shower and toilet cubicles. It’s a unique place in an old building, so expect creaky floorboards and steep stairs, as is typical in The Netherlands. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Cleaning small areas of mould from the shower grout and touching up scuffs on the stairwell walls could improve the rating.

It’s a small, personal hotel with a nice lounge where you can relax and have free coffee. Staff and service were great. The location is right in the city centre, with restaurants, bars and shops just outside, and about a 12-minute walk from the train station.

A calm, pleasant area, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre. Public parking is about 10 minutes away on foot. We had a family room with a king bed and a double bed, which the kids obviously loved. It’s a nice boutique hotel.

The bed was very comfortable, and we could use the coffee machine for free all day. The room had lovely big windows facing the front. There was a fabric market there on Sunday morning. It’s a bit of a walk to the town centre, but the hotel’s high quality made it worth it. We were also close to a popular bus stop and the amazing old post office. We didn’t have breakfast, though what we saw looked good. I just wished there’d been somewhere in the room to put my suitcase, since there was enough space for it. I mentioned it to the hotel clerk, who kindly brought a crate up from the basement, and that worked fine. Management could consider putting a folding luggage rack in each room.
