Hotel Holland Lodge

I never booked a room here and have never even been to Utrecht, yet the hotel charged my credit card. I tried reaching them by phone and email and got no reply, so I reported it to the police. Edited: I attached a photo of the bank receipt. There is no booking in my name because I didn't make one. I consider this fraud. Even after I emailed and called to warn the hotel, they didn't respond or stop the booking made in my name. I have now reported it to both the police and my bank.

Getting into the city center was easy by public transport or on foot. The host was friendly and helpful, and the hotel facilities were just right, with a great TV, heating, and AC for hot weather. I had an excellent stay at hotel holland lodge.

The beds made for a rough night. The mattresses seemed to bulge in the middle, and we kept trying not to roll off. The room also had a tiny shower, a TV that didn't work, and disappointing finishes and cleanliness. We knew it was a budget hotel, but next time we'd rather pay a bit more than stay somewhere we couldn't wait to leave and dreaded returning to. On arrival, we were told flooding meant our booked family room wasn't available. They offered two alternatives, which was okay, but neither matched the room we'd reserved. A discount was offered for only one option, the one with a shared bathroom, so we declined it. The place had an odd feel, with families seeming to live there, nighttime arguments, kids' bikes around, and children wandering the halls. We were also told guests could get €10 cash back for leaving a positive review.

There was a sink, table, stool, shelves, and everything else I needed in the room, plus a good-sized refrigerator and microwave that made it easy to save money by eating in. The room was simple, very clean, and the bed and bedding were comfortable, so I slept well. It's a great value for budget travelers, and the location is excellent, very close to the metro. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful with questions, and spoke perfect English. This little hotel is a real find in Utrecht.
