Theaterhotel Venlo

The location is great and it’s a very nice hotel. There isn’t enough space for clothes, though, and the TV is so close to the wall that there’s no way to plug in anything like a USB or external hard drive.

At least the location is perfect. We stayed last week, though, and what used to be a good price-quality hotel now feels like it’s only about the price. We paid about 150€ for the room and breakfast. The room was cold and smelly. The empty minibar was switched on and blinking like a mirror ball, and unplugging it was the only way to stop that. When we opened the window curtains, the first thing we saw was a pipe right outside! No fresh air came in, just a greasy, stinky kitchen smell 🤢, so we shut the window straight away. Fortunately it was winter! *lol* The buffet wasn’t appetizing, with lots of food in plastic portion packs. The coffee was very bitter, and by around 9:00 the wholemeal bread was gone with no fresh supply. We left and had a great breakfast at a nice Café.

Right in the middle of Venlo, the location is great. The rooms are spacious, and the service is very friendly and helpful. It feels a bit expensive for what you get, and the breakfast doesn’t meet a four-star standard.

Being right in the middle of Venlo's shopping area is very convenient, with several highly rated restaurants nearby. Getting into the hotel is less straightforward: reception and the entrance are separate, and you have to carry luggage up a few steps before reaching the elevator. It's usually fully booked, so late checkout may not be available. Keep that in mind when planning your trip.
