De Hoogstam

The modern rooms are tastefully done and have everything you need. We were comfortable even with our three-month-old daughter, and really appreciated how friendly, hospitable and flexible everyone was. B&B de Hoogstam sits beautifully in the charming village of Vijlen, with a view you could keep looking at. The surrounding area is lovely for walks and bike rides, though staying in is nice too. We wholeheartedly recommend De Hoogstam!

The hosts made us feel right at home at this beautiful B&B, set on a peaceful estate with grazing animals, sunny places to sit and stunning views. Vijlen itself isn’t especially exciting, but there’s enough to keep you busy for a few days. We went for a walk, had a delicious dinner just around the corner at the Vijlerhof, and spent a wonderful day at Wijngaard Martinus. A lovely place, five stars.

Everything was perfectly arranged, and the place was clean, tidy and atmospheric. There are several spots to sit and enjoy the beautiful view. We couldn’t book breakfast at the B&B yet, but hopefully that will be possible in the future. It would be lovely to have breakfast here!

The ‘Route des Vins’ walk takes you past two wine estates and the Hijgende Hert, and the wines made the extra kilometers worthwhile. The directions were easy to follow, though we missed the signs now and then, so it’s better to stick to the written route. One thing to know if you’re having breakfast at Vijlenerhof: on Sundays, breakfast for B&B guests is only available until 10:00, not 12:00. We had a great weekend at Bert and Anja’s brand-new B&B. The room was beautifully and sleekly decorated, exactly our taste, with a top-notch view over a piece of Limburg’s Tuscany. Bert and Anja were top-notch hosts.
