Beach House in Koudekerke Near Dishoek

The breakfast was good quality with plenty of variety, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The clean room had a safe, an empty minibar, a hair dryer, and air conditioning. It was a bit small, especially for two people. The beach is very close, but you'll need some transport to reach other amenities.

The staff were great and so was the food, but my room wasn't clean enough. I found hairs in several spots, even in the shower gaps, and there were stains on the curtains and the inside of the toilet door. It was also extremely hot in the room, even though it wasn't hot outside.

There were hard plastic splinters, about 3 cm long, in the onion soup. The staff and head chef Rob apologized politely, but nobody seemed interested in checking whether other foreign objects might be in the food. It felt like part of a wider problem: no service, a mediocre self-service breakfast, and rooms that were outrageously overpriced. Even the short walk over the dunes couldn't make up for it. Never again.

I stayed for two nights and was greeted warmly by the friendly employees each time. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The shower and toilet were in separate areas, which felt odd, but it was okay. It's right by the sea, with a few towns nearby, though you'll mostly need a car to get to them. A bike might work too. I had a nice stay.
