Hotel Zilt

The breakfast was only so-so, and the street noise was considerable, though the hotel kindly provides earplugs. The staff were friendly, but I hardly saw them. The room felt damp while it was raining, the towels wouldn't dry, and ventilation wasn't very good. The hotel itself was disappointing, with tiny rooms, narrow corridors, and extremely steep stairs.

We had a parking fine from the municipality after we entered one wrong digit on the permit application. When we told the hotel, the people at reception contacted the municipality for us, and the fine was eventually waived. The reception is very friendly, and staff are always ready to help with questions or problems. It's a lovely place in a beautiful spot near the harbor. Our room was small but cozy and clean, and breakfast was very good. You can rent a bicycle for a very reasonable price and ride it all day, a great way to visit the coastal villages nearby. For a pleasant stay in Vlissingen, Hotel Zilt is a good choice.

Polite, friendly staff, and the room was furnished in a coordinated black and white style. The place is small and stylish, in a good spot near the seafront. Breakfast is the standard buffet: bacon, eggs, ham, cheese, bread and pastries, plus fruit and yogurts.

The room this time faced the road, and the noise was so bad that the hotel even supplies earplugs. I politely asked whether I could move, and was told, in effect, to choose a better room next time. There were other rooms, and I was willing to pay extra for an upgrade, so that response really ended it for me. I’d stayed at Zilt more than 20 times over the past ten years and had plenty of good memories of Vlissingen tied to those visits. Back in 2018 I called it nice and cozy and praised the breakfast. By 2026, the rooms were looking increasingly worn, with no sound insulation, but I’d been prepared to overlook that. What I couldn’t overlook was the loss of basic service. Loyalty takes a long time to earn and can disappear quickly. Thanks, Zilt, for the years before. We won’t be meeting again.
