De Gevangentoren Suite

Dinner was delicious, but I won’t be back. The wine the server brought me didn’t taste good, so I asked for another one and got it, but was charged for both. That was unfortunate, and our server wasn’t very friendly either.

I brought guests because I know this restaurant is pricey, but the food and location are amazing. We’d ordered our courses and wines, then after enjoying our dessert, asked the waiter for another one. Someone who seemed to be the waiters’ manager came over and scolded us, saying we couldn’t order food a second time because this wasn’t a tapas restaurant and we should have ordered everything together. I was shocked and embarrassed in front of my guests. We were made to feel as if we were being punished for enjoying food we’d paid quite a lot for. There’s nothing wrong with tapas restaurants, either, so I don’t understand the put-down. If ordering only once is so important, it should be stated on the menu. That kind of behavior doesn’t match the restaurant’s quality. I won’t return or recommend it to others. My highest compliments to the chef, though, they’re truly amazing.

We spent about €50 each on food and drinks. The dishes had a gourmet feel but came in generous portions, and it’s a very nice place with an excellent sea view.

The sea view from the terrace was intoxicating, especially at dinner as the sun was going down. The restaurant sits right by the water. I had a surprise three-course meal, with salmon, my favorite, to start, fish for the main, and a very delicate dessert. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend it.
