Hotel Bij Boone

Great.

Breakfast was great.

We booked three days at a hotel near Boone through Traveldeal, but things went wrong as soon as we arrived on Sunday after 2:00 PM. At least five couples were already waiting outside to check in. A little later the owner opened the door, and envelopes with names on them were scattered across the stairs. We were told the hotel was overbooked and sent to a B&B 50 meters away. The envelope gave us the code to get the keys from a cabinet by the front door and enter the room. It was tiny, with a double bed pushed against the wall so there'd be enough room to walk. There was nowhere for a suitcase or my CPAP machine for sleep apnea. We never found the promised coffee and Zeeuwse bolus. The hotel was closed, as was the café, and everything else was shut too. Sunday wasn't a good day to check in at Boone. We decided to stay only one night and checked out Monday after dinner. When I explained to the owner why we were leaving early, he said he was sorry we hadn't enjoyed ourselves and asked me to write down my email so he could see if he could help. Three months later, I still hadn't heard anything. We wouldn't really recommend Hotel Bij Boone.

We had a Social deal for two nights, one adult and a child aged 3.5. The room was spacious, modern, and comfortable, and breakfast had a good mix of sweet and savory choices, pastries, eggs, and different breads. By car, the location is handy for the sandy beaches at Zoutelande and Domburg. We had a pleasant stay, and I recommend it. A couple of things could be better. The room was 13 degrees Celsius when we arrived around 4 pm, and only warmed up after we got back from dinner. Also, they don't speak English, let alone French, and their activity suggestions are limited. I'd suggest putting laminated information in English and French in the rooms, along with tourist office brochures instead of the guidebook 😅.
