Hotel Spaander

The hotel looks beautiful and the location is great, but getting around by car was a hassle. The gate could take 15 minutes to open, and there might not be a space in the hotel parking area, which created a bigger problem. The gym and pool were good, though you had to ask for permission to use them or have the door opened. My room had no heating. Staff tried to fix it and told me to wait for it to come on later, but it never warmed up, and they couldn't move me to another room. Breakfast wasn't fully available at 06:30 as claimed, it was closer to 07:00. There wasn't much variety or good quality, either. I also had to remind staff every day about the lunch packages I'd requested, then wait 10 minutes at reception.

We picked this lovely seaside spot for a weekend away, and parking was easy with the hotel's own lot. The room was clean, which mattered most, though ours was on the ground floor right across from the restaurant, so it got noisy. The only view was of the neighboring apartment blocks, making the room feel a little cramped. The shared areas were beautifully decorated, and having drinks at the hotel café in the afternoon was really enjoyable. I'd recommend it for the price.

I've stayed here several times, but this was the worst room I've ever had. It seemed like a storage room converted for guests, with two sofa cushions stacked up as an extremely soft mattress. Best Western? More like worst room!

I felt very comfortable during my time in Volendam, and I'd happily come back. Hotel Spaander is a charming little place right by the busy harbor, with a sea view. The rooms have appealing decor and cozy beds, and the service was friendly and attentive. There's also a small pool, sauna, and gym for relaxing or working out. I especially recommend the breakfast buffet. Thanks for a lovely stay.
