easyHotel Amsterdam Zaandam

The room was on the small side, but worked perfectly well for one or two people. We’d booked one bed because no two-bed rooms were available, and the front desk gentleman and lady kindly offered to move us. They were so helpful and friendly. The hotel is affordable, quiet, and well placed, with everything we needed within walking distance. I stayed two nights on my first visit to the country and had a wonderful time. I’d happily recommend it, hope this helps you decide to book! :)

Zaandam itself is worth a visit, and Amsterdam is easy to reach by train even though the hotel is a little outside the city. Shops and cafés are close by, too. My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and reception was friendly and straightforward. Definitely recommended!

The fire alarm went off after a guest smoked in their room, and everyone had to evacuate. We followed the instructions and took the stairs, but the landing became dangerously crowded. When the stairwell door is partly open, it takes up nearly all the landing and blocks much of the escape route, leaving people stuck together during an active alarm. This raises serious questions about whether the building meets Dutch fire safety rules, including the Bouwbesluit 2012 and its successor under the Omgevingswet, the Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving (BBL). Escape routes are supposed to stay clear and allow people to leave safely and efficiently. In an actual fire, a bottleneck like this could cause panic, injuries, or worse. The hotel is basic, and the price reflects that, but this is a potentially dangerous structural problem, not a small inconvenience.

A quick check-in, comfortable beds, and a nice hot shower. The room had a flat screen TV and a good view over Zaandam. It does what it says on the tin, and the price was very reasonable. Many thanks.
