The host was really helpful. Whenever we ran into them outside or at the store, they checked in, and they even brought over some odd kitchen bits for us to borrow so we could bake. The little thatched house is charming, with cosy decor and enough colour and illustrated tablecloths to keep it from feeling sterile. The private shower and toilet were decent. Amsterdam isn't too far, especially by car. If you walk around the orchards, bring hiking shoes or wellies. It rains a lot in the Netherlands, and the ground stays wet even when the sun is out. The houses and apartments have paved paths and patios, so it's easy to keep clean when you're not out exploring.
