Van der Valk Wieringermeer

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Friesland. The atmosphere was cozy, the decorations were nice, and the place was clean. Food quality was good and restaurant service was okay. One small point: when customers ask how a particular dish is prepared, newer staff should be trained to know the answer. It didn’t affect our satisfaction, though. Van der Valk offers good food and experiences at an attractive price. René and Menekşe.

The parking was excellent and the food was great. Service started out well, but then the staff seemed to lose interest. Some people nearly got up and left. When the waiter finally came over, he seemed uninterested and struck me as arrogant. Maybe that’s not my problem, but I found it unsettling and plain rude.

I showed up in the middle of the night without a booking after having car trouble, and getting a room was no problem. The staff were really helpful and nice. They even charged my phone because I’d left my charger at home. Great room and breakfast. 👍♥️

The location isn’t ideal unless you want quick highway access. It’s right off the road and there isn’t much to look at. The rooms are good quality, especially the showers, and the restaurant is good without being too expensive. That’s useful since there aren’t other restaurants nearby open every night. Good value for the money, though the setting isn’t great.
