Hotel Restaurant Mondriaan

We found the restaurant disappointing. Our three-course menu arrangement had only one option, and the food was basic, medium quality: a nice soup and simple chicken satay. We asked several times for tap water, then got three glasses without seeing any bottles and were charged for bottled water without being told. Apparently they don't serve tap water, but nobody explained that. The hotel feels old-fashioned, though the rooms are spacious, well equipped, and have comfortable beds. Breakfast had an okay range, but there was too much plastic packaging, for butter, jam, peanut butter, and nearly everything.

We ate at the hotel and the dining was perfect, with main courses that were great value. The rooms are older, but recent refurbishments have made them look fresh. They were clean and the beds were good. It was a warm night and there was no air conditioning, unfortunately. Breakfast was what you'd expect, and the stay was really pleasant.

The beds could be bigger, but I had a really pleasant stay here during my first trip overseas from the U.S. for work training, which lasted almost a week. The food was remarkable for a small countryside place away from a major city. I ate there about four times and tried different dishes, with nothing disappointing. I especially liked both fish options, cooked perfectly. The owner and staff were always busy looking after customers and checking that everyone was okay. I also heard the story of the Inn/Hotel and how Jurgen and his wife have done a remarkable job starting the business. It was a pleasure staying there, and I'd recommend the place to anyone for the food, service, and amazing staff.

There's a nice outdoor seating area, and the food was well prepared when I stopped by at lunchtime. It wasn't busy, so service was timely. The menu has simple dishes and snacks at reasonable prices. It's a family-owned restaurant and B&B with friendly, welcoming service. The new owners are making changes, including décor upgrades, and so far so good. Being by the railway line means the views aren't great, but it's a good spot for a quick bite.
