Appartementen El Sol

We stayed two nights in a standard room for two. It was on the small side, but had what we needed, and we felt very comfortable. The bathroom was outside the room, which bothered me a little, and we only found that out after booking. Being right on the street also meant some noise. Even so, the landlady was very nice, and we’d definitely come back.

The location is fantastic, with the beach three minutes away and bars and restaurants five minutes away. But we wouldn’t book El Sol Zandvoort again. Our room felt small and hugely overpriced, the furniture was very dated, and the rotten terrace stairs felt unstable enough to make us worry they wouldn’t last through our stay. Parking isn’t really provided either. With luck, you might find a paid spot on the street. We were delayed by traffic and forgot to tell the landlady we’d be about an hour late. She was clearly unhappy and made us wait an hour before returning to let us into the apartment.

The beach and town center are nearby, and there’s a supermarket just a few meters away. Those were the only real advantages of our three-night stay, which cost €350. The room was old and needed renovation. The shower leaked, was broken, and mostly gave cold water. The baseboards were badly worn, the bedroom window was broken, and there was no light in the upstairs hallway. The terrace felt dangerous in places, with very rotten, wobbly stairs that could cause a fall or a splinter. There was rust everywhere, and the back facade had clearly seen better days. Everything seemed worn out and dilapidated. The landlady was curt and seemed annoyed when we asked for a new bulb in the living room and kitchen. For that price, I expected a basic level of comfort, cleanliness and maintenance, but unfortunately that wasn’t there.

We had a lovely little apartment for good value, with a nice terrace and a small kitchen stocked with the appliances we needed. It’s very close to both the beach and town center. And Nancy was super nice too.
