A disaster. All they seem to care about is money.

The location made the stay enjoyable, with the beach, restaurants, and shops all an easy walk away. Wi-Fi was excellent too. The apartment itself was clean and worked fine as a basic place for a beach break, though it’s clearly getting old. The TV didn’t work at all, some blinds were broken, and the fitted kitchen was in bad shape and partly coming apart. Fine as a practical base if you’re not expecting luxury.

We were greeted very warmly, and the apartment had some nice furnishings, but several problems affected our stay. The stairwell was dirty, with hair all over it. In the bathroom, old, shabby fixtures and mold on the window raised hygiene and health concerns. The apartment also let in a lot of sound and light, especially through a door that felt more like a screen than a proper door. One lamp was broken, with a shattered bulb and exposed tubes, which seemed dangerous, especially for children. It has potential, but cleanliness, upkeep, and safety need urgent attention.

The beach and town center are right nearby, and the apartment is modern and comfortable. But the service and communication were frustrating. Reception said they only mop every three days, which is fine, and I don’t mind making the bed myself. But going three days without clean dishes or fresh towels wasn’t okay. By the time we’d made that clear, our stay was nearly over. Ventilation was another issue: there was only a tilt window in the bedroom and a tiny one in the bathroom, so airing the place properly meant leaving the front door open, which wasn’t always possible.

We were in side apartment 107 last November, and the bathroom was so filthy, with mold and damp patches, that we couldn’t shower. There was mold, damp, and rot on one wall as well, and no blinds on the bedroom window, so it was much too bright to sleep. About ten minutes after we arrived and started unpacking, an English-speaking woman came in without hesitation to ask if everything was okay. We’d knocked and waited for her to answer the door, but she hadn’t responded. The following day I became seriously ill, which I blamed on the mold. I reported it to reception at another location in Zandvoort, but got no compensation or anything similar. Once, never again.
