Palace Hotel Zandvoort

The view was gorgeous and the location quite nice. We stayed in the "wellness suite" and found it clean, though a few small things were wrong, including a loose toilet seat and a broken lightbulb. The establishment is old and doesn’t seem to be in the best shape. All in all, it was okay, but nothing spectacular.

We were disappointed, so didn’t take any pictures. The first room smelled bad, and reception moved us to another one. It was better, but the heating didn’t work while it was -2 outside.

The location was ideal, but the room situation and breakfast were frustrating. We came for Valentine’s Day and had paid for a sea view, but were told our room had a leak. They moved us to a bigger first floor room overlooking the parking lot, which wasn’t an upgrade we were happy with. Reception said the hotel was fully booked, but offered a room on the same floor with a side view of the sea. That one had a smaller bed, an open toilet with no door into the bedroom, and a strong weed smell, so we declined. We were told again there were no rooms, but could pay a small extra fee for a bigger one. We accepted because we were already there and unhappy. The room was on the 18th floor, with a loft bedroom reached by awful metal stairs, no handrails, and an external space heater beside the hot tub. The view was nice, but I wouldn’t suggest it for anyone with mobility issues. The shower cabin was drafty, and the interior had a strange minimalist style. Apart from that, the stay was reasonable. Breakfast was severely understaffed, as others have said. In a full hotel, one person was serving with a junior who didn’t know what to do. Bread was missing and the coffee machine didn’t work. We complained and got the breakfast money back, apparently €15 per person. The staff were sympathetic, but charging us extra to upgrade after they couldn’t provide the room we booked wasn’t cool. Without the ideal location, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Be sure to complain.

Our room was a good size, clean, and very nice, and the breakfast was good too. The hotel is right by the beach. We could only see the parking lot from our room, though sea view rooms are also available.
