Pension Villa Tanahlot

Breakfast is €8.50 per person, freshly and lovingly prepared, and there’s plenty of it. Don’t miss it. For the rest, Villa Tanahlot is generally a safe choice, but there are a few things to know. We stayed in room 5, which wasn’t spacious, and there was barely any room for our belongings. Every surface was crowded with knick-knacks, something we found really annoying. The stairs up to the rooms are extremely steep and may be impossible for some guests. With six rooms and four parking spaces, a spot isn’t guaranteed, and two spaces are lined up one behind the other, so you may need to maneuver. There’s also a public lot five minutes away on foot, with fees shown in the attached photo. The main downside for us was that they only took cash, which feels outdated. You can only guess why.

The villa is in a great residential spot, an easy 4-7 minute walk from the beach, supermarket, pedestrian area, or dunes. There are 3-4 free parking spaces on site, depending on vehicle size, a real luxury in Zandvoort. The housekeeper was an angel, so attentive, courteous, and lovely, and did her best to meet requests. Breakfast was good and varied, served in the room at 9 am. The room was cozy, though definitely not five-star. Getting to the attic meant tackling a brutal staircase, the final boss after more than 30 years of dealing with narrow, steep Dutch stairs 🫣. There was hardly any clothes storage, just a tiny locker-sized wardrobe, and the carpet and furniture were worn. Even so, Villa Tanahlot is well worth recommending. The little flaws come down to personal preference and are outweighed by the welcoming feel. The price was fair, and I’ve stayed in much worse places in Zandvoort for a lot more money.

We had a good breakfast at a reasonable price, and the staff were very friendly. There were three of us, including a child, and the guesthouse was well placed for getting to both the beach and town. Parking was available too. We’d love to come back!
