Hotel Restaurant Ruimzicht

The people are so friendly and always ready to help, and there’s plenty of choice at breakfast. The food is very nice too. This was my fifth stay, six nights this time. I’ll book here again and can only recommend it.

I was booked here for three weeks for work. The staff were attentive and did their best to meet my needs. Nothing seemed too much trouble, even making me a late-night cup of tea around 11pm. Dinner was a highlight. The village is quiet, with not much happening, but there are plenty of walking routes for weekends. The local trails are great for walking, though not so much for mountain biking, with lots of climbing and very little downhill. Room 56 on the second floor was basic but clean. Towels and toiletries were replaced every other day, and the laundry service was handy: reception gave me a plastic bag for dirty clothes, and they came back washed and folded within a day, returned to my room. The room had a quaint feel, but the single-pane windows and wooden frames needed fresh paint and mould treatment. The curtains and blinds could do with replacing. There was no tea or coffee in the room, which was disappointing when I had to go down two flights for a drink. I later learned the machine was meant for breakfast only, and I shouldn’t have helped myself. The radiators weren’t working properly. The bathroom towel rail gurgled when turned up but stayed cold, and the radiator under the window heated very slowly, with hot water only reaching halfway along it. I can’t fault the service, but this place is fine for a weekend. For more than a few days, I’d look elsewhere.

The rooms were clean, though they could do with a bit of updating. Staff were friendly, and the food was great at both breakfast and dinner.

The restaurant was good and the food tasted nice. The hotel and rooms are a bit worn, but there’s what you need for a long weekend. We booked the “W-end with the dog” package because the hotel advertises itself as dog-friendly. Still, whenever we went to the restaurant, we were pushed into a corner because we might bother the other guests. We’re guests too, and that left us with mixed feelings. We won’t be back.
