The rooms were cleaned and refreshed every day, with things like the coffee cartridges topped up as if everything were new. That was a welcome surprise, since we only have a few coffees at breakfast. We stayed for two days while visiting family, and the service was perfect with no disturbances at all. The staff were VERY GOOD and professional, though the atmosphere is informal, more like a hotel/motel. We were on the top floor of the outbuilding, with a gallery in front of the room, a table and two chairs, and an ashtray on the wall, which was handy for smokers. I really appreciated being able to step straight outside without taking an elevator or passing through the hall and reception. Our car was right in front of the room, so we could keep an eye on our things, especially with a car full for a holiday. It gave us a very SAFE feeling, which many hotels don’t offer. Van der Valk Zuidbroek Groningen, what a NICE place to stay!!! We’ll COME BACK to this LOVELY PLACE!!!

The playroom downstairs is made especially for children. It was a bit cold, but a great place to spend some time. The rooms were VERY well ventilated, and the climate was absolutely a plus. The beds were fine, and service was great, with staff very attentive when needed. We found this fine hotel quieter than the one near Gorinchem, with a quiet room measuring 38dB.

I won't order the carpaccio again. It was horrible, with as much parmesan cheese as meat. This is a bad review of the food, not the restaurant itself, which my parents love.

The food selection is pretty limited, and it’s very annoying to have to go outside to reach your room.

We booked three nights, including one three-course dinner, after a long drive all the way from the south. The food was quite good, and breakfast had a wide enough selection. The rooms and service were excellent. I hadn’t imagined a hotel could be so big in the Netherlands, probably because I’ve lived in the Randstad too long.
