Lumen Hotel Zwolle

The modern hotel has a convenient location, and the rooms are clean and spacious. But my stay was seriously spoiled at checkout: an extra 70€ was charged to my card without any description on the invoice. My booking included breakfast and dinner up to 35€ per person, and I never agreed to an additional charge. I emailed several times to ask for an explanation or a refund, but got no proper response. They either ignored me or said it was “too long ago,” even though I contacted them only a few days after checkout. More than five weeks later, I still have no explanation or refund. I’m very disappointed with how they handled this. Clear billing and proper responses to complaints should be basic at a hotel of this level.

We had a great stay at this modern hotel and event center while visiting family, and enjoyed a meal at the Blue Finger restaurant as well. As a wheelchair user, I found everything comfortable. The room facilities were excellent, and parking was good and nearby.

The room was clean and spacious, but bare and not very cozy. Breakfast was really nice, with fresh croissants, fruit, and good coffee. Check-in on 25/12 felt very unprofessional. Also, staff should remember that everyone in the restaurant can hear their conversations, so please keep personal stories and schedules elsewhere. When there are only two tables, take a moment to greet them and maybe bring them a coffee if you have time. You’re in hospitality, so please act accordingly. The way guests are treated needs some attention.

Everyone was very friendly, and being able to check in at 14:15 was nice. I stayed Saturday to Sunday for the Zwolle versus Telstar football match. The modern room on the fifth floor had a nice view over Zwolle, and coffee, tea, and WiFi were free. I had a shower that night, but the water wasn’t very warm. They said there was a problem heating the water and that they could fix it, and by morning I had a hot shower, so I’m not taking off a star for it. I didn’t book breakfast because 23 per person was too much for me, so I can’t comment on that. Checkout at 12 was handy. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.
