Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and as we both drink tea, we appreciated the receptionist bringing us a kettle for the room. Reception staff were extremely helpful and suggested local restaurants since the hotel restaurant only serves pizza on Sundays. We spent one night at the Grand Hotel this weekend on our way back to Ålesund. It’s an easy walk to the city center, yet far enough away to stay peaceful and quiet. I’d definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

I didn’t enjoy my stay. The room size and bedding were fine, and the gym is fully equipped, so you can get a decent workout. But the equipment was left scattered on the floor and hadn’t been tidied up at the end of the day. The shower design was awful: both doors open, so they don’t seal properly and water floods the whole bathroom every time. I’ve never seen such a bad hotel shower design. I also left an expensive camera lens behind by accident, and they didn’t email to let me know. I had to contact them myself, which felt like basic courtesy was missing. Reception service was decent but mediocre. The restaurant was understaffed, so getting served took a while, though the food was decent and dining options in town are quite limited. The dinner waitresses were great despite the staffing shortage.

The location worked perfectly for me, close to both the bus and train station and the sea. I loved the room, lounges, and restaurant, and the hotel was comfortable and quiet. It also has a lot of history: don’t miss the photos in the halls and corridors, which show the building’s glorious past alongside its cozy, welcoming atmosphere today.

The staff were warm, welcoming, and professional, always ready to help. Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and served in a cozy setting. Our spacious room was beautifully furnished and had thoughtful details that made it easy to relax. Grand Hotel – by Classic Norway Hotels combines classic charm with modern comfort, and its central location made it easy to explore while the hotel itself stayed peaceful and elegant. A memorable stay, with authentic Norwegian hospitality and high-quality service. Highly recommended.

The location is great, and it seems like the only real hotel in the center of Åndalsnes. The room feels tired, especially the bathroom, carpet, and console table. The bathroom isn’t small, but the vanity is so tiny you can hardly fit a glass on it. It has both a rain shower and a regular shower head, which might be nice, except both run at once. Worst of all, the drain smells really bad.
