A peaceful vibe, mountain views, and comfy beds made this a great weekend spot. There’s also a sauna and kayaks, and the food was great. Just the place I’d choose when I want to disconnect from the world.

The only drawback is that it’s an hour from Bergen city center. Taking the ferry from Kleppestø is the best option for getting straight to Bergen old city centre. The hotel and restaurant are amazing, and there’s a shore sauna and places to walk the dog. Having reception open 24 hours is priceless.

The peaceful atmosphere and lack of crowds make this a lovely place to unwind after a busy work schedule. The back of the building feels like a paradise, with space for boats and yachts to park and plenty of room for families to enjoy the island, sunshine, food, and hot or cold drinks. The waiters and waitresses were lively and attentive, constantly serving guests and clearing tables, and the staff were warm and accommodating. The team worked well together. Parking is spacious right in front, and reception is by the main door. Biologen is on the beautiful island of Herdla, about a 40-minute drive from Bergen. You can also take public transport from Bergen busstasjon to Ravnanger terminal, then catch the next bus towards Herdla, which waits there. The last stop is right by the hotel. This place deserves 5 stars.

The toilet was so organized and clean, unlike any restaurant toilet I’ve seen. The view of the surrounding landscape is really beautiful too.
