Dragsvik Fjordhotel

We loved the beautiful grounds and the secluded outdoor spots where we could relax and enjoy nature. Our room was clean, with a fantastic fjord view, and the family-run hotel was very cute. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious, and it was nice to get drinks and snacks in the common area in the afternoon. It’s a short drive to Balestrand. We’d definitely stay again.

The hotel is a quiet group of old wooden buildings, with a pleasant setting and magnificent fjord views. There are lots of blueberries around, and plenty of great hikes nearby. We enjoyed the good dinners and pleasant breakfasts, especially the fresh croissants they bake. Balestrand is a short drive away. I recommend the first mile of Keipen for an easy hike with splendid views.

Dinner was the standout: a small menu that changes daily, cooked beautifully, with even the bread made on site. Breakfast was fresh and hearty. We had two rooms from Aug 6-8, a Standard Double (210) and a Comfort Double (105). Both were spotless and comfortable, but 105 was something special, with floor-to-ceiling views of the fjord and mountains. The beds were very comfortable, and the fresh fjord air kept the rooms cool without A/C. The staff were as memorable as the views. Thanks to Magnar for staying in touch when our ferry plans changed, and for making coffee and sandwiches early on our departure day. The hotel is peaceful and remote, about 15 minutes from Balestrand, with shuttle service available. We came on the scenic Flåm–Balestrand ferry, and it was worth the trip. We left already planning to return. The meals were the best we had in Norway, and the peace and views made Dragsvik Fjord Hotel feel like the full package. Skip dinner in Balestrand and eat here instead.

The dinner was amazing, and eating at the hotel was definitely the right call. We’d planned to drive into town, but the great reviews and the friendly service convinced us to stay in for a meal. There’s a restaurant on the first floor, where the breakfast buffet was set up too. I’ll review it separately. We were only there for one night during our Norway trip, but the staff made us feel very welcome. The hotel is quiet and just outside the city, which suited us perfectly. Our room was exceptionally spacious, spotlessly clean and lovingly decorated, and it had the largest bathroom of our vacation. The fjord view from the bed was remarkable, especially in the evening. The drive to town still only takes a few minutes. It was a wonderful, relaxing stay. I’d happily recommend the hotel anytime.
