Barfot Apartments

We stayed three nights. It suited two adults, perhaps with a child as well. The instructions were clear, and they provided towels, though no other bathroom amenities, so I was glad I'd brought my own. The heated bathroom floor was nice in winter. The apartment is on a corner of a steep road and about a 5-10 minute walk from the city center. A nice stay.

Stay Urban, Apartment 503, top floor, Nygardsgaten 94, Oslo. August 2025 This apartment has real potential. The living room and terrace are both very large, the beds were comfortable, and the linen and towels were clean. The codes worked, there was plenty of hot water, the Wi-Fi was fine, and the appliances looked good quality, though we didn't use them. A light rail stop and supermarket are very close. But the servicing and maintenance were inadequate, and management should inspect the place. There was dust and debris on the floor and mats. The terrace had broad patches of green mould, cigarette ends and bottle caps. Most outdoor cushions were soaking wet because they had no covers. A mattress in a room we didn't use was badly stained. Two light fittings had no covers and exposed wires, and there were two uncovered sockets beside the small sink in the separate bathroom. There was a hole in the living room ceiling and a broken blind. The TV hadn't been checked: its HDMI cable wasn't connected to the cable box, and once connected, the box couldn't get online, leaving only very limited terrestrial TV. We accidentally opened a door in the first-floor lift lobby and found bags of rubbish, smelling bad and attracting flies. I reported everything in the chat after arrival and again after we left, but got no response.

The bathroom was lovely, and the bed was super comfortable. The first-floor apartment had all the amenities you could ask for. We'd never had separate duvets before, but after trying them I'm not sure I'd go back to sharing one. One thing to keep in mind: the staircase is a real death trap, with a very steep climb and a banister that drops vertically. It may not work for anyone with mobility issues.

The contact numbers were useless, as no one replied to calls or texts. The floor wasn't clean, some lights didn't work, and a mat for the bathroom floor would've been nice. The bed had just one pillow per person, and they were almost flat. There weren't enough cooking utensils, and one cupboard was very worn and could use an upgrade. A microwave and toaster might be good additions. The staircase was narrow, nearly vertical, and very hard to manage. There were guest instructions, but nothing explaining the archaic TV remote controls.
