I spent almost two months in a studio apartment at Fjordside Lodge while working at primary schools in Alver. It was perfectly placed for getting to all the schools I visited. The studio suited one person and had everything I needed, plus private parking and a lovely garden with a fantastic view. There are quite a lot of steps, which may be an issue for some. The host was flexible and helpful, and took care of any problems that came up.

Rita made our visit to Norway especially lovely. She was a warm host and a great storyteller, so be sure to hear about Fred and his family. Her studio is on site, and she's talented at painting and making pillows, hats, slippers, and scarves. Fjordside Lodge also makes a great base for exploring the many nearby places, and Rita can point you to them and explain how to get there.

I've returned to Fjordside, and it still feels like home away from home. It's peaceful and close to Bergen Centrum, and Rita always makes me feel welcome. She'll help with directions to nearby activities or suggest something new to explore. The apartment is clean, affordable, nicely decorated, and has a wonderful view of the Fjord.

The place is in a great spot, and Rita was a lovely host. She even gave me some homemade cake, which was delicious. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The so-called “free” cancellation ended up costing me NOK 7 800. I cancelled less than half an hour after booking, but they refused it and later marked me as a “no show.” They said Booking.com wouldn't allow them to accept the cancellation, while Booking.com says Fjordside is responsible.
