Kong Oscars Apartments

There wasn't much help available: the hotel has no receptionist, and customer service still hadn't answered my question a week later. Some guests seemed to be living there rather than visiting, and one person talked loudly on the phone at night. In the sleeping area, there's no ventilation, so it gets humid and the air turns stale. The laundry machine and dryer were broken, and one fridge was left open, leaking water onto the floor. The lockers are tiny, so everyone in my room kept their bags on their beds. Worse, beds 7 and 8 had no assigned lockers, leaving those guests to borrow random lockers meant for other beds. Occupancy was low enough that it worked out. If you can, stay at the HI Hotel Bergen Montana instead. I spent one night there and found it much better.

They need to put more money into this hostel. It may be one of the cheapest places in Bergen, but £28 a night still felt like a rip-off. Sleeping for free at the airport was much better than staying here. I was greeted by used towels and beds that had been slept in.

We felt safe here and really enjoyed our stay. The place is well situated for walking into the town center, the rooms are quite spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean. The bathroom looks as if it was added later and isn't very soundproof, though the floor is heated. We'd happily stay again.

The one thing going for this hostel is that it's near the train station. Even so, I'd rather walk farther in the snow and stay somewhere cleaner. The kitchen, floors, bathrooms, and bed were all extremely dirty, as if nobody ever cleaned. There was no support at all when my husband's bed was taken by another person; he tried contacting the hostel and got no response. We had a terrible night. I wouldn't recommend it.
