Magic Kloverhuset Harbour Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals

Avoid. They took my money, messed up my reservation, and first denied I had a booking before finding it. They offered a refund, then stopped replying to all my emails. The Radisson Central Bookings team was no help either.

The room was comfortable and had a lovely view. Breakfast was average, and the staff were abrupt and difficult to deal with. At breakfast, I was asked twice for my room number, and both times they seemed unconvinced. They made me feel like some intruder off the street.

I expected less after reading reviews about unfriendly staff and dirty rooms, but my stay turned out completely differently. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and breakfast was well organized. We were first given a room facing inside the hotel. When we asked, they kindly moved us to a much nicer one with an outside window and a view of the shopping street. For a 4-star hotel, the price was still very affordable compared with many other 4-star and even 3-star places in the city, so it exceeded what I expected. We could walk everywhere and didn't need public transport tickets during the whole stay. The location was excellent: the airport is easy to reach by tram, the train station is walkable, and Bergen's main sights are close by.

The room was simply and practically furnished, and the view of the slopes, cable car, and Mathallen (former factory) was very beautiful. The hotel is fairly central, close to the pedestrian zone. Its open kitchen, many glasses, and 1,000 wine bottles covering the walls and passageways really stand out. To catch the Flygbussen (air bus), the stop is to the left of the three boathouses beside Mathallen.
