Scandic Byparken

The area is great and close to the center, but I’d tell people not to book this specific hotel based on my experience. The staff weren’t serious about sorting things out. We were put in the wrong room, then they kept arguing with us instead of offering any compensation. The heater was broken and couldn’t be used. They promote the breakfasts as amazing, but the choices were very limited and we had to make our own waffles. What hotel makes guests cook their own waffles in a machine? I wouldn’t come back.

You get what you pay for: the rooms are small and basic, with no A/C, and there’s no fresh towel or daily room cleaning. For a budget hotel, though, this is great value. The location is excellent, right beside the station and close to shops, bars, and restaurants. Breakfast is incredibly generous, and guests can use a huge, well-equipped gym nearby. Staff were very polite and helpful. Honestly, I don’t understand the negative reviews.

The hotel was peaceful, and despite facing the street, my windows let in no noise from outside or other rooms. It’s close to many attractions but tucked away from the city noise, with museums, shops, and the lake just a two-minute walk away. Staff were friendly, and there’s a handy little shop by reception for quick snacks.

I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. The location is convenient, close to the train station and tram 1, which goes straight to the airport, and the room was spacious and clean. But I slept badly. There’s no air conditioning, so I had to keep the window open overnight. Noise kept coming from outside, possibly from a machine or equipment near the hotel, and I could hear the neighbors too, especially when they used the bathroom. I’d pay a little more for somewhere quieter and more comfortable.
