Bømlo Hotel

The area around it feels a bit soulless if you don’t have transport. Inside, though, the rooms are clean and practical, with hangers but no cupboard. The restaurant food is simple and fine, and the reception guy was helpful and nice. It’s an absolutely okay two star hotel, fine for a couple of nights. We ate there a couple of times.

The lobby bar and restaurant already look great, and the restaurant serves decent food. Breakfast is mostly bread and cereal, with coffee, milk and juice. The new Hilton club is meant to open downstairs at some point. The owner invited us to play snooker/billisrds and darts. There’s been a lot of renovation, so construction gear may be sitting in corners, and it’s a bit cold everywhere while they change the heaters. The staff are young and new to the business, so many requests go through the manager. Seems normal while the hotel gets up and running, and everyone is learning. Parking out front is limited, but there are more spaces in the backyard between the hotel and Kivi market. It’s a rough diamond that could be a gem once the work is done. This is a non-smoking hotel, and smoking in the hotel area may bring a fine of up to 5000 NOK.

My friends were pushed and thrown out of the bar even though they hadn’t done anything. I was banned because I talked too much. I think it may be because I’m not Norwegian, and it feels unfair.

The rooms were cold, like the wind could pass straight through the walls. It’s fine if all you need is a place to sleep, but otherwise I’d suggest an Airbnb or somewhere else.
