We stayed here for one night on our way to pulpit rock and parked our campervan on a waterfront pitch. It’s a stunning setting, and the campsite has what you need for either a stop or a longer stay. The toilets and showers were clean and conveniently placed. You need tokens for the showers, available at reception. The cafe/bar on site wasn’t open when we visited in late April 2026, so bring your own supplies. There aren’t any bars or restaurants nearby. A great campsite in a brilliant location.

There’s an electronic terminal for booking a spot, and the grounds are quite beautiful. The facilities are clean, but the kitchen, toilets and showers feel stuck in the 1990s. I don’t mind an old style campground when the cost reflects the quality. Paying 15 euros for laundry and finding a washing machine that looks like Kevin McCallister used it was frustrating. At 45 euros for a camping spot, a toilet door handle made of rope also feels like too much. I hope the facilities will better match the prices in future.

It’s been two years since we stayed at their home by the harbour, and we still remember it fondly. The view over the harbour and fjord was beautiful, the boats were lovely, and the couple made us feel so welcome. After a long day fishing, that shower was incredibly relaxing. Honestly, it was the best shower I’ve ever had.

We had a clean cabin with enough room for our family of four, and the shower was excellent, hot with great water pressure. The owners were very friendly, and we loved spending a day on the water since you can rent a small boat. The campsite sits right beside the fjord, with a stunning view. We were even lucky enough to spot a few small dolphins. We’d definitely recommend it.

We came to Kyrping on a sunny weekend hoping to spend a little time by the water and do some fishing. The map showed a large open area by the harbour, and when we entered, there weren’t clear signs saying access was for campsite guests only or that we needed to register or pay. About 10 to 15 minutes later, someone who seemed to be connected with the campsite came over and asked if we were guests. We said we weren’t and just wanted to go down to the water. They reacted in a very unfriendly way and told us to leave. I can’t give the exact wording or full details because that would breach Google’s content guidelines, but the tone felt unnecessarily aggressive and intimidating to us. Things escalated quickly, and my partner felt very uncomfortable and overwhelmed. Only after that were we told it was private property and there was a 100 NOK fee. We’d have had no problem paying if it had been clearly signposted or explained beforehand. The fee wasn’t the main issue for us, it was how the whole interaction was handled from the start. We’d seen online that boat rentals were available and had thought about asking about them. After this encounter, we no longer wanted to. We’ve found people welcoming, respectful and friendly throughout our travels in Norway, so this was a very disappointing exception. If calm, respectful communication matters to you, check the access rules in advance or consider another location.
