Breakfast was a real highlight, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The rooms are simple but very clean and tidy. Fjærland is tiny, so there aren’t many places to stay, but Hotel Mundal is good value and you’ll be well looked after. It’s a lovely stop on the road between Bergen and Ålesund, with mountains to the west and the fjord to the east. Fjærland’s book town feel and remarkable landscape make it a lovely little escape.

A quiet, almost forgotten place that feels like a secret. The setting is beautiful, the service is good, and the atmosphere of this historic spot from 1891 has been kept intact. Worth stopping for longer.

The floating sauna and the fjord atmosphere made the whole experience amazing. I’m already in love with this place.

The room was cosy and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The hotel’s decor is a little dated, though.

We had a nice lunch in a fantastic building, right in a town with lots of interesting second-hand bookshops.
