The dining room has a lovely rustic feel and a fantastic view of Rondane National Park. We were the only guests that afternoon, but the hosts still made coffee and waffles just for us. They’re a little older and very sweet. We’d happily come back.
The room was quite decent and the view was fantastic. The homemade food was good too, and it made for a nice stop on our trip. I was the only guest, but they still laid out a full breakfast 😋. Finding the way there was a bit confusing, since the GPS didn’t quite match the terrain. The road was marked closed, though it happened to be open.
If you call ahead, they offer both meals and accommodation. We arrived to find it closed, but the very nice owners explained they couldn’t open the restaurant with so few guests. It’s a cozy cafe/restaurant in a great location.
I was upset to see the host, Jens Hammer, make fun of an elderly woman who came to reception to ask politely if she could buy a cup of coffee. He rudely said they wouldn’t make coffee for a single cup, then ushered her down the stairs and mocked her for finding that strange. I also saw what seemed like racist treatment on another occasion. A car with some Africans arrived, and when one of them asked to rent a cabin, he claimed none were available despite several being vacant. He sent them away and said, “I don't want these here.”
