Breakfast really stood out for me. It was the best Scandic breakfast I’ve had in the last year, with proper scrambled eggs, nicely cooked bacon, and plenty of choice. There was still quite a bit of semi-processed food, and hotel breakfasts generally don’t seem as good as they used to, but I left full and happy. My room was huge, with a sofa, armchair, big bed, roomy bathroom, and a little balcony. It had lots of space for luggage and clothes, a fridge, a proper desk, and power outlets by the bed and around the room. The seating was comfortable, and the bed and duvet were very good. I just wished for a slightly bigger pillow. I also got the biggest room upgrade I’ve ever had at a Scandic, which was much appreciated. There aren’t many hotels to choose from in Førde, and Scandic Sunnfjord is a large, established place with a real presence in town. It has a spa and pool, holds concerts and events, and even has a nightclub. Check-in itself was quick and easy. But this was my third recent Scandic stay where staff first told me I hadn’t paid for breakfast, then noticed I’m a True Friend member. Breakfast is included for us, so it’s strange that the system doesn’t make that clearer. The room got properly dark and was quiet for the most part. There was a low hum and some hallway noise now and then, but I was away from the lifts and facing the back courtyard, so there was no outside noise. The temperature was the problem. It was too warm and I couldn’t work out how to adjust it, which brought my sleep quality down to average. Parking was a mess. The hotel offers free guest parking, but when I arrived at 00:30 the lot looked full, so I used a neighboring lot and paid 230 NOK for eight hours. After checkout, I also found I was being charged about $50 for two days of parking despite registering for the free parking. That was an unpleasant surprise, though I did get a refund. With limited options in Førde, Scandic Sunnfjord is a dependable choice. The room size and breakfast were strong, while temperature control and a few less important details fell short. 4/5, a good stay and probably the best all-round option in Førde.

Breakfast was the one bright spot. It was good, though pretty standard for Scandic. The rest of the stay was very disappointing. My room felt old and hadn’t been cleaned properly, with dust, stains, and a torn curtain. The children’s bunk bed had no ladder, so it was awkward and didn’t feel safe. The corridors and carpets were visibly dirty, and the pool area was unclean too. People were walking around there in shoes and bringing dirt into the water. The sauna also didn’t work consistently. The hotel didn’t meet expectations.

I only came in by chance, but then didn’t want to leave. The sauna, indoor pool, and gym were great, breakfast was crazy good, and the staff were really polite. Joining Scandic as a member is free and gets you a small discount ✌️

Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were the best parts for me. There was a nice range of dishes, and the food tasted good. Check-in took a while, partly because phone calls were being answered during the process. Once I got to the room, it looked like the previous guest’s trash hadn’t been taken out, and the sheet was inside-out. The room could also use better sound insulation. At the pool, some ceiling panels seemed to be coming loose, which looked potentially unsafe. The water was quite cold, and the sauna wasn’t available during my stay.

The stay was horrible, and I’m really disappointed and frustrated with the hotel and Booking !!!!! My reserved room was extremely dirty. The bathroom was very dirty too, the sofa had lots of scratches, and the AC didn’t work. I contacted booking, but got no response, so I went back to reception to complain and ask for a better room with AC. They gave us an upgrade after I paid for it. After we checked in, the AC still wouldn’t work. The receptionist said I just needed to switch it on, and I did, but nothing happened. I went to reception three times. Finally they told me the AC was not working and would start within an hour, but it never did. Why was I charged for a better room and told the AC worked when they knew it wouldn’t?
