Lofoten Links Lodges

The course conditions were tough, and the holes were even more challenging with the strong wind we had at the end of the season. The place is unforgiving, but I had a great time. I shot 98 and felt like it was a 78 given the course and conditions. Best round of my life. The holes are stunning, set in unbelievable scenery. The tee boxes aren’t club standard and the scorecards could be improved, but that’s not why you came to Lofoten Links.

One of the most unusual golf courses anywhere, with amazing scenery and one-of-a-kind views. The conditions don’t match other $275-per-round courses, and the driving range is awful, with a 180-meter maximum and poor upkeep. It’s odd there’s no online tee-time booking, and the price is ridiculous, perhaps why it was wide open on a late September evening. Even the souvenir golf towels cost $70, almost three times the price at the Old Course. I probably should give it 3 stars, but it’s just too unique. I wouldn’t fly to Lofoten only to play here, but if you’re a golfer already in Lofoten, you probably have to try it once.

I had an unbelievable time here last year. The drive up from the UK was unreal in itself, and the team’s service was great once we arrived. The surroundings are out of this world, and the accommodation was perfect, with brilliant views. The golf course was unlike any I’ve played. Conditions may not be pristine, but it’s a links course in the Arctic Circle. Enjoy the trip and the experience of playing in the midnight sun. If you get the chance, go!

I loved the golf, and the area was great, but the lodging was a surprise. We were put in a house with just a room of our own and shared spaces with people in two other rooms. That felt weird and awkward, and we got two twin beds, which was odd as a couple. There was no AC, but they brought a fan when I asked. Thank goodness, because it was hot. I’d thought we were staying at a golf resort, lol, but we made the best of it and the golf was exceptional.
