We came with our extended family in October 2015 to look for the Golberg ancestors' home in Gol, and this lovely post-and-beam chalet made for a special stay. From the porch, the views over hills, mountains and the lake were incredible, with plenty of good hiking nearby. Inside, the light wood paneling and floors looked fresh, and the house had two modern European bathrooms, a large eat-in kitchen, and comfortable radiant floor heating. The windows opened to gentle breezes without screens, or shut easily against the chill. The house and kitchen were well stocked, and the fridge and freezer handled our group of eight, apart from the missing ice trays. Shopping in downtown Gol was only a few minutes' drive away for groceries and drinks. Getting there takes about 15 minutes on unpaved terrain after leaving main road 52. GPS and maps made it hard to find, so asking the owner to lead us up the first time was helpful. After that, all was well. A hidden gem, and we hope to return. Thank you for a lovely visit!

The cabin is well equipped and finished to a high standard, with magnificent views. It's a great base for a cross-country ski holiday: trails start right there, with a big network, varied terrain and good signs.

The cabins are good, and the service was good too. I took off a star because there's no recycling setup, even though the local landfill has a recycling facility. A few more bins and bags plus a couple of labels would be enough to make recycling possible.

A paradise in a beautiful landscape, with endless cross-country trails all around. The best place in Norway to slow down!
