Vollsnes Feriehus Stryn

Kolbein Kaspersen, the owner, greeted my wife and me when we arrived. He was cheerful and funny, which isn't something we've seen in abundance this far north. We loved the visit. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well furnished. We managed a two hour rowboat trip, a quick dip in the freezing lake, then a vigorous after dinner hike along a trail beside a roaring waterfall. A spectacular way to spend the first day of summer. If you make the overland trip to Hjelle, bring all the groceries you'll need. We didn't notice any restaurants or grocery stores nearby.

The deck and the view were amazing, and the cabin was beautifully appointed. It had a fun loft that tweens would love. The full kitchen was wonderful, stocked with lots of useful things like coffee, filters, olive oil, and other essentials. Our cabin also had a freezer for ice packs, and the washer was a plus. We were welcomed promptly and shown around. Sadly, we left the next morning without trying the kayak or BBQ. Wish we could have stayed a week to enjoy all the amenities.

The hosts at Vollsnes Feriehus went above and beyond, even making sure we could have bacon and eggs in the morning :) From the chalet, the lake and mountain views are awe inspiring, and being close to some good hikes adds a bit of adventure. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to soak up Norway's landscapes.

The view and access to such a beautiful area were excellent. We had an easy check-in and check-out, and the host was friendly. Our two-night stay was in a very nice cabin for two, high standard and really comfortable. Highly recommend. I drew a picture of the window view 🙂
